Attention Teachers: Is your class time too black & white?
The Tunnels of Moose Jaw is dedicated to bringing history to life for students of all ages, in an entertaining and educational way. We welcome over 8000 students a year on school field trips. These groups travel from all over Saskatchewan, Manitoba & Alberta for the unique experience. Obviously, teachers have recognized the distinctive benefits of the Tunnels. In taking their students out of a traditional classroom setting, they are providing them with a chance to objectively experience first hand, what it was like.

The Chicago Connection tour tells the story of Al Capone and his association with Moose Jaw. Students become acquainted with prohibition, bootlegging, organized crime and political corruption during the ‘Roaring Twenties’. The Passage to Fortune tour follows the epic journey of early Chinese immigrants to Canada. Here students learn about the building of the Canadian Pacific Railroad, ‘coolie’ brokerage, Head Tax and early racism.

While the educational aspect of the Tunnels fits into the curriculum of most History and Social Studies grade levels, it is not exclusive to those classes. Since the release of Mary Harlekin-Bishop’s fictional book, Tunnels of Time, and the sequel, Tunnels of Terror, more English and Language Arts classes are visiting the Tunnels.

To your left, a complete School Package is provided, along with background info on each tour and Pre/Post Activities. Whether it is a learning field trip, or an end-of-the-year visit, challenge your students to experience Canadian and Saskatchewan history in a unique way!
